The activities of the Iraqi National Anti-Drug Week were launched at the University of Al-Hamdaniya, aiming to raise awareness about the dangers of narcotics, highlight their destructive effects on society, and reinforce a culture of prevention within the university environment.

The first day, held in the University Theater Hall, featured a series of activities presented by various university colleges, including awareness campaigns, short informative videos on the risks of drug abuse, as well as lectures and scientific workshops addressing the behavioral effects of substance use. These activities were based on real experiences in addressing addiction cases within Iraqi society.

In his opening speech, the President of the University, Professor Dr. Nashat Mubarak Sliwa, emphasized that the university actively fulfills its societal mission and assumes full responsibility in combating the scourge of drugs and warning against their negative impact on individual behavior and societal stability.

The Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, Assistant Professor Dr. Rabee Hazim Salman, participated in the opening ceremony along with a number of faculty members, highlighting the college’s role in supporting the university’s initiatives and promoting students’ health and behavioral awareness. A large number of students and staff from the college also attended, expressing their commitment to the university’s values and educational and humanitarian activities.
